699 Audit of Post-Splenectomy Patients in Primary Care

Abstract Aim To describe the demographics of a large general practices post-splenectomy patient population (including sex, age, and indication for splenectomy), audit cohort's care against national immunisation antibiotic prophylaxis guidelines. Method All adult patients registered with practice who had undergone surgical splenectomy were included. Included patients’ medical records reviewed data including sex; age; date splenectomy; history; drug history collected. Results Fifteen approximately 13,000 coded having previously splenectomy. The main indications included trauma; haematological disease; major intra-abdominal resection. Patient cohort an older (mean age 69) several years 39 ago).
